Odisha journalist’s death: Postmortem confirms multiple injuries

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), July 29: The postmortem report for Madhumita Parida, the journalist who reportedly died after jumping in front of a train in Odisha’s capital, has revealed multiple injuries on her body. The report indicates that she survived for some time after being dragged by the train before succumbing to her injuries.

Madhumita, employed by a web channel, was found deceased on the railway tracks in Bapuji Nagar on the evening of July 24. Prior to her death, a video allegedly recorded by her surfaced on social media, in which she accused her husband of harassment and infidelity.

The following day, Dhauli police arrested her husband, Sridhar Jena, an Air Force staff member, on murder charges based on a complaint from her family. They alleged that he had been harassing her for days and had pushed her in front of the train.

Further investigation will include sending Sridhar’s mobile phone to the Forensic Department to analyze call and chat histories.

Madhumita and Sridhar were married on March 1, 2024, and had sought police assistance the day before the incident to address their personal issues.
