Odisha Minister reports Rs 147 crore fraud in Cooperative Banks

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), July 31: On Wednesday, Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta revealed in the state Assembly that corruption amounting to Rs 147 crore has been detected in 18 Central Cooperative Banks across Odisha.

In response to an Assembly query, the Minister disclosed that Rs 14 crore has been recovered so far and action has been taken against 521 individuals implicated in these cases of financial misappropriation.
The Minister provided details of the corruption cases, noting that Sundargarh reported misappropriation of Rs 32.23 crore, while Sambalpur experienced Rs 30 crore in financial irregularities.

Additionally, Keonjhar has reported Rs 17 crore in misappropriation, Berhampur Rs 10 crore, and both Banki and Balasore have each reported Rs 9 crore in misappropriated funds.
