odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 25: In a shocking incident, a Class X girl student of a government-run residential school in Chitrakonda, Malkangiri district, gave birth to a baby boy inside the hostel premises. The incident has sparked outrage and raised serious concerns about student safety in such institutions.
According to reports, the girl returned to the hostel on Monday evening after appearing for her High School Certificate (HSC) examination. Shortly after, she delivered the baby. The hostel warden, upon noticing her condition, immediately informed the girl’s father. When the parents arrived, they were shocked to find their daughter had already given birth. She was then shifted to the Chitrakonda Sub-Divisional Hospital for medical care.
What has further raised concerns is that the girl had been attending classes and appearing for exams without anyone noticing her pregnancy. Her parents have accused the school authorities of negligence, holding them responsible for the incident.
Meanwhile, school teachers have pointed fingers at the hostel warden for failing to monitor the students properly. Following the incident, Chitrakonda police have launched an investigation, while the District Welfare Officer (DWO) has also initiated a separate probe into the matter.
