odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 18: The cold wave has intensified across Odisha, with G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district recording the lowest temperature of 5°C in the last 24 hours, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Night temperatures dipped to 10°C or below in five other locations. Semiliguda in Koraput recorded 7.6°C, followed by Phulbani and Daringbadi (Kandhamal) at 8°C each. Jharsuguda and Anugul experienced 9.7°C and 10°C, respectively. Phulbani also witnessed dense fog, adding to the wintry atmosphere.
In the twin cities, Bhubaneswar reported a minimum temperature of 12.3°C, 3.2 degrees below normal, for the second consecutive day. Cuttack recorded a slight increase, from 12.4°C to 13°C, with temperatures expected to hover between 11°C and 13°C over the next week.
The IMD has issued a dense fog warning for isolated areas in Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, and Koraput until January 19. Shallow to moderate fog is also expected in districts such as Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, and Jharsuguda until January 21.
The weather agency predicts no significant change in night temperatures for the next 4-5 days, keeping the state in the grip of chilly conditions.
