Odisha News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 21: In a tragic incident, a couple was found dead in Budukiya village under Baliguda police limits in Odisha’s Kandhamal district. The deceased, identified as Pramod Malik and his wife Puari Malik, allegedly died by suicide following a dispute over a mobile phone.
According to reports, Puari had recently brought a smartphone from her father’s house. However, Pramod mortgaged the phone to purchase liquor, leading to frequent arguments between the two. On Wednesday, the quarrel escalated, prompting Puari to lock herself in a room and take her life by hanging. Shortly after, Pramod went to another room and also ended his life.
The incident came to light on Thursday morning when neighbors heard the cries of the couple’s 11-month-old daughter. Suspecting trouble, they peered through the windows and discovered the couple hanging in separate rooms. Police arrived, recovered the bodies in the presence of a magistrate, and sent them for autopsy. An investigation is ongoing.
