Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), March 3: A foreign woman’s decision to get a tattoo of Lord Jagannath on her thigh has sparked massive outrage in Odisha, with devotees and religious organizations condemning the act as disrespectful.

The incident occurred at a tattoo studio in Bhubaneswar, leading to protests and demands for action against the shop owner.

Members of the Hindu Sena lodged a complaint at the Saheed Nagar Police Station, alleging that the tattoo hurt religious sentiments and sought strict action against the studio’s owner. The controversy intensified after a photo of the tattooed woman was shared on the Instagram page of ‘Rocky Tattooz,’ the shop where the tattoo was done. As the post went viral and drew criticism, it was later removed.

In response to the backlash, the shop’s owner, Rocky Ranjan Bishoyi, and the foreign woman publicly apologized via social media. Bishoyi clarified that his staff had advised the woman to get the tattoo on her hand, but she insisted on her thigh. The woman also expressed regret, stating she would cover up the tattoo once it healed.
