Odisha News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 30: The Odisha government has suspended Lavanyendu Mohanty, Tehsildar of Hemgiri in Sundargarh district, for alleged negligence, corruption, and frequent absenteeism. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department initiated the action based on a report by the District Collector.
Mohanty reportedly skipped a crucial monthly revenue meeting chaired by the District Collector without obtaining prior permission. His absence from the important meeting was deemed a serious breach of duty, further compounded by previous allegations of misconduct.
The suspension order, issued by the Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management, directs Mohanty to remain stationed at the Sundargarh Collectorate. He is prohibited from leaving the district headquarters without the Collector’s permission and has been instructed to immediately hand over his responsibilities.
An official notification stated, “A disciplinary proceeding against Sri Lavanyendu Mohanty, OAS-A(JB), Tahasildar, Hemgir, is under consideration. Therefore, the Governor of Odisha, under Rule-12 of OCS (CC&A) Rules, 1962, has placed him under immediate suspension.”
