odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 25: The Odisha government has decided to extend the suspension period of IPS officer Pandit Rajesh Uttamrao for another 60 days, effective from January 26, 2025. This decision follows a review conducted by the state government on January 22, 2025.
A notification from the Home Department stated that a meeting of the Review Committee, chaired by the Chief Secretary, took place on January 22 to assess Uttamrao’s suspension. After examining all relevant documents and considering the facts and materials presented, the committee recommended the continuation of his suspension for an additional 60 days, which will last until March 27, 2025, unless revoked earlier.
Uttamrao, a 2007-batch IPS officer, was first suspended on July 27, 2024, following allegations of misusing his official position. The charges stemmed from an incident where he reportedly forcibly entered the residence of a woman inspector and misbehaved with her. His suspension was extended for another 120 days on September 27, 2024, and was set to end on January 25, 2025, before the recent extension.
