Odisha news: Justice Harish Tandon appointed as Chief Justice of Orissa High Court

Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen),  March 21: Justice Harish Tandon has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court, following the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium. He is currently serving as a judge of the Calcutta High Court.

The announcement was made on Friday by Union Minister of State for Law & Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, who confirmed the appointment via a social media post.

“In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the President of India, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint Justice Harish Tandon as Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court,” Meghwal posted on X.

Justice Tandon’s appointment comes after the retirement of Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh on January 19. Meanwhile, Justice Arindam Sinha, who is currently serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court, is awaiting transfer to the Allahabad High Court, as recommended by the Collegium.

Justice Harish Tandon has been serving as a judge of the Calcutta High Court since April 13, 2010, and is ranked seventh in the All-India Seniority of High Court Judges.
