odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 12: A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a raid on Thursday in Anantapalli village, located under the Motu police limits in Odisha’s Malkangiri district, due to suspected Maoist activities.
According to sources, the NIA team, which arrived from Hyderabad around 3 AM, targeted the residence of Mantosh Mandal with the assistance of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the District Voluntary Force (DVF) of Malkangiri. In addition to Mandal’s house, searches were also carried out at the homes of two of his associates.
Simultaneously, the NIA is conducting raids at two locations in the Sukma area of neighboring Chhattisgarh. As of now, the NIA has not issued an official statement regarding the operation.
This raid follows a significant breakthrough three months prior when police dismantled a Maoist supply network, leading to the arrest of Mantosh Mandal, 28, from Chintalnar in Sukma district, and S. Nagarjuna from East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. During their arrest at Devi Chowk in Patnampara, authorities seized explosive materials, including potassium nitrate, urea powder, aluminum powder, a tiffin bomb, detonators, Maoist literature, a laptop, a mobile SIM card, and a mobile phone.
