Odisha News: Bhubaneswar (Reporterspen), Nov. 11: Female government employees are now entitled to an additional 12 days of annual leave for menstruation. The Finance Department has officially issued a notification regarding this. All female government employees up to the age of 55 can now avail of this 12-day menstrual leave annually.
Each month, one day of leave can be taken specifically for menstruation, and it must be used within that same month. The Finance Department has clarified in the notification that leave for one month cannot be transferred to the following month. Last month, the state government decided to increase the annual additional casual leave for female government employees by 12 days. Alongside the usual 10 days of casual leave and 5 days of special casual leave, women employees can now avail of this additional 12 days of leave.
Notably, the previous BJD government had decided to provide 10 extra casual leave days for women for their monthly needs. On March 12, 2024, the Finance Department formally issued a notification in this regard, meaning that female government employees were eligible for 25 days of leave annually. With this new provision, they will now have 27 days of annual leave.
