Odisha News: Odisha Chief Minister orders RDC inquiry into mango kernel deaths in Kandhamal

Odisha News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 5: The tragic deaths of two women due to a mango kernel incident in Kandhamal district have sparked widespread outrage across Odisha. In response, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered a comprehensive inquiry at the level of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) to investigate the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.

The Chief Minister’s office announced, “Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed for an RDC-level inquiry into the mango kernel death issue in Kandhamal district.” This directive comes amid growing public concern and anger regarding the fatalities that occurred after the women consumed gruel made from mango kernels.

In addition to the fatalities, six other individuals are currently receiving treatment in local hospitals after falling critically ill from the same incident. The government is expected to take immediate steps to ensure such incidents do not recur, and public health safety measures are reinforced. The community is calling for accountability and proper investigation into the food safety standards that may have contributed to this tragic outcome.
