Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 11: In an effort to address the increasing number of divorces in the state, the Odisha government is planning to set up mental health counselling centres across various districts.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida announced that these centres will be named “Maa Ra Chhata” or “Mother’s Court”, focusing on pre-marital and post-marital counselling to promote stronger relationships and emotional well-being.

The primary objective of this initiative is to equip couples with essential guidance and emotional support, helping them navigate challenges in their relationships. These centres will offer counselling services to couples before marriage, emphasizing the importance of mental well-being, mutual understanding, and conflict resolution. By providing professional support, the government hopes to prevent marriages from breaking down due to unresolved issues and lack of communication.

The state plans to set up these centres in different locations to ensure accessibility for all, particularly in urban and rural areas where marital disputes are rising. Officials believe this initiative will create a more supportive and understanding society, reducing divorce rates and fostering healthier families. With a structured counselling approach, “Maa Ra Chhata” aims to build a foundation for long-lasting and happy marriages in Odisha.
