Odisha News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 19: The Odisha government is set to rename the rural welfare scheme ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha,’ launched by the previous Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government. Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik announced on Saturday that the scheme will now be called ‘Bikashit Gaan, Bikashit Odisha’ (Developed Villages, Developed Odisha).
Naik revealed that fresh guidelines for the rebranded scheme will be issued within two days. Under the revised framework, the focus will shift to Palli Sabha (village community meetings), empowering panchayat representatives to drive development based on the needs and proposals of rural residents.
The previous BJD government had introduced Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha as an upgraded version of the earlier Ama Gaon Ama Bikash scheme, launching it across all 30 districts to enhance rural infrastructure while preserving cultural heritage. The scheme also aimed to equip villages with internet access, sports infrastructure, training centers for self-help groups, and better digital connectivity.
