Odisha News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 18: The Odisha government has taken immediate action following the tragic death of a 3rd-year BTech student from Nepal at KIIT University, allegedly by suicide. In response to the incident, the government has placed the institution under notice and announced strict legal and administrative measures based on the findings of a High-Level Fact-Finding Committee.
The committee, formed by the state government, comprises senior officials, including the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department, the Principal Secretary of the Women & Child Development Department, and the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Higher Education Department. The probe will focus on allegations of misconduct, particularly claims of the use of force against students by private individuals. Officials have stated that anyone found responsible will face stringent legal consequences.
Reaffirming its commitment to student safety, the Odisha government has pledged to take all necessary steps to ensure the protection, dignity, and well-being of every student. Authorities have assured swift and fair justice, with proactive measures being taken to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future.
