odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 22: Following a successful anti-Maoist operation in Chhattisgarh, where Odisha’s Special Operation Group (SOG) played a crucial role, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has announced a substantial increase in the special risk allowance for jawans from Rs 8,000 to Rs 25,000. This decision reflects the government’s recognition of the significant risks faced by security personnel in combating Maoist activities.

During the operation, which involved collaboration between Chhattisgarh’s District Reserve Guards, the CRPF, CoBRA, and Odisha’s SOG, a total of 16 Maoists were neutralized, including Jai Ram alias Chalpathy, a member of the Maoist Central Committee with a bounty of Rs 1 crore on his head.

The Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for the successful operation and congratulated the forces involved for their bravery and dedication. He emphasized that the Odisha government is committed to intensifying its campaign against Maoists in the coming days, aiming to ensure the safety and security of the region and further diminish Maoist influence in the state.
