Odisha news: Odisha man dies, six injured as pilgrims’ car collides with bus in Uttar Pradesh

Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 11: A tragic accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district claimed the life of a man from Odisha’s Rourkela and left six others injured when their car, returning from the Maha Kumbh, collided with a bus. The mishap occurred on Monday afternoon near Phulwar village, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Raktim Pujari (34), according to Circle Officer Pradeep Singh Chandel, as quoted by PTI. The group of seven pilgrims was heading home when their vehicle met with the fatal crash.

Authorities rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Duddhi Community Health Centre for medical treatment. Among them, Anita Sawai was critically injured and has been referred to the district hospital for advanced care. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination.

This incident marks the second death of an Odisha pilgrim returning from Maha Kumbh. Earlier, on February 6, Prasant Kumar Panda (72), a businessman from Beguniapada in Ganjam, lost his life in Jamshedpur while returning from Prayagraj after taking a holy dip at Sangam. Authorities have urged pilgrims to exercise caution while traveling.
