Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 28: In a tragic road accident, a driver was burned to death after two trucks collided and caught fire near Bhawanipatna town in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Saturday morning.
According to sources, a coal-laden truck crashed into another truck carrying rice bags from behind near Pastikudi village under Bhawanipatna Sadar police limits. The impact of the collision was so intense that both trucks immediately burst into flames.
Several locals rushed to the scene in an attempt to rescue one of the drivers, who was trapped inside his truck. Despite their efforts, the driver could not be saved and tragically perished in the fire.
Police and firefighters arrived shortly afterward and managed to extinguish the flames, but both trucks had been almost completely destroyed. The driver of the second truck reportedly fled the scene following the crash.
Authorities suspect the collision was caused by either reckless driving or poor visibility due to dense fog in the early hours. The identity of the deceased driver has yet to be confirmed, and a police investigation is underway.
