Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 2: The Odisha government is gearing up to implement the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM), a transformative initiative aimed at providing patients with seamless access to their medical records through a unified digital platform.
Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling stated that the initiative will simplify healthcare access, eliminating the need for patients to carry multiple prescriptions while visiting hospitals or consulting doctors. The core of this system is the introduction of the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) card, supervised by the National Health Authority (NHA).
The ABHA card will allow individuals to register and securely store their health information. By scanning the QR code on the card, healthcare providers can instantly access a patient’s complete medical history, including past illnesses and treatments.
The NDHM ensures efficient digital storage and retrieval of health data, promoting better healthcare accessibility. The ABHA card can be applied for online and will integrate seamlessly with the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The state government aims to distribute these health cards to beneficiaries by February 2025, marking a significant step toward modernizing Odisha’s healthcare system, Mahaling added.
