Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 12: The night temperature in Odisha is expected to drop by 3-5°C over the next four days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). However, daytime temperatures continue to rise, with several places in the state recording above-normal temperatures for February.

On Wednesday, Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 34.4°C at 2:30 pm, marking the second instance this month when the mercury surpassed 34°C. Earlier, on February 4, the state capital had recorded 34.9°C, senior meteorologist Umasankar Das confirmed.

Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest place in the state, with the temperature soaring to 36.4°C at 2:30 pm, up from 35.6°C the previous day. On Tuesday, Jharsuguda had recorded the highest temperature at 36.6°C, followed by Balangir (35.7°C), Angul (35.7°C), Sambalpur (35.3°C), Bhawanipatna (35.2°C), Sonepur (35.2°C), Bhadrak (35.2°C), and Malkangiri (35.1°C).

The rise in temperature is attributed to an approaching western disturbance and moisture incursions due to an anti-cyclonic flow. The IMD has also predicted shallow to moderate fog in parts of North Coastal Odisha till February 13, mainly during early morning hours.
