Odisha News: Odisha witnesses sharp dip in night temperature amid fluctuating weather patterns

Odisha News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 14: The Odisha capital, Bhubaneswar, recorded a significant drop in night temperature by nearly 4°C over the past 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday. The temperature fell to 17.8°C from 21.6°C the previous night. Similarly, Cuttack witnessed a decline of 3.5°C, recording 17.5°C compared to 21°C on Thursday.

Other parts of the state also experienced a sharp dip in temperature. Rourkela saw its mercury level drop from 13°C to 9.8°C, while Jharsuguda recorded a fall from 13.2°C to 10.2°C. Sundargarh also saw a decrease, with temperatures dropping from 15.3°C to 12.6°C. G. Udayagiri in Kandhamal remained the coldest location in the state, recording 9.4°C, marking a 2.8°C decline from the previous day.

IMD has predicted a further decrease in night temperatures by 2-3°C over the next few days. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog may occur in North Coastal Odisha during early morning hours on February 15-16. Light to moderate rain is also forecast for Mayurbhanj and North Coastal Odisha on February 19, extending to Keonjhar and Dhenkanal the following day.

Interestingly, despite the nighttime chill, daytime temperatures surged past 35°C in several regions. Bhubaneswar recorded 35.4°C on Thursday, while Angul was the hottest at 35.9°C, followed by Jajpur (35.2°C), Bargarh (35.1°C), and Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Malkangiri, and Jharsuguda at 35°C.
