Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 24: The Odisha government launched an extensive housing survey for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) on Friday, aimed at identifying eligible beneficiaries in the state.
Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik inaugurated the survey at Arjunsinghpur village in Jasuapur Gram Panchayat, located in the Pipili block of Puri district. During the launch, the Minister interacted with beneficiaries and emphasized the use of a mobile app to conduct the survey. Notably, families that own two-wheelers, refrigerators, and landline phones are now eligible for inclusion, with the family income limit raised to ₹15,000 per month.
Minister Naik announced that certain eligibility criteria have been relaxed, allowing families with two-wheelers, refrigerators, and landline phones to qualify for the scheme. Additionally, individuals separated from their families—such as those living away from parents or spouses—will also be accommodated in this survey.
Furthermore, individuals who applied for housing assistance previously but have yet to receive allotment can reapply. The application process has been streamlined, allowing eligible beneficiaries to apply for PMAY benefits through both offline and online platforms. The online portal will be activated on the first day of the survey.
Naik encouraged residents to apply for the scheme either through the Panchayat or a mobile application. The government has updated the eligibility criteria and removed application fees to maximize registration among eligible beneficiaries.
