Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 3: In a shocking incident that occurred early Friday morning, a sister-brother duo was shot at by unknown assailants while they were sleeping on the verandah of their home in Bhangamunda village, located in Odisha’s Angul district.
The victims have been identified as 15-year-old Jagyaseni Mirdha and her 11-year-old brother, Prakash Mirdha, both children of Prafulla Mirdha.
According to sources, the children were initially taken to the Kishorenagar community health center for treatment. Jagyaseni sustained a gunshot wound to her abdomen and her condition rapidly worsened, necessitating her transfer to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for specialized care. Meanwhile, Prakash was admitted to a hospital in Burla, Sambalpur district, where he is currently undergoing treatment; his condition has been reported as stable.
Local authorities have launched a thorough investigation to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind this brutal act against the two minors.
