Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 23: The budget session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly is set to begin on February 13, and Speaker Surama Padhy has emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline among opposition legislators.
In a recent statement to the media, the Speaker made it clear that while constructive suggestions from opposition members would be welcomed, any form of disruption or obstruction would not be tolerated during the session. Padhy stressed that opposition parties should focus on playing a constructive role by offering suggestions and engaging in productive discussions.
The third session of the 17th Odisha Assembly will run from February 13 to April 5. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who also holds the Finance portfolio, is scheduled to present the State Budget for 2025-26 on February 17. The general discussion on the budget will take place on February 20 and 21, followed by the presentation of the Appropriation Bill on March 29.
The session will begin with an address from Governor Kambhampati Hari Babu, followed by the motion of thanks. The session will consist of 28 working days as per the provisional calendar, with an all-party meeting planned before its commencement.
