Odisha News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 15: Inspector General S Shyni of the Odisha Police’s Crime Against Women & Children Wing (CAW&CW) arrived in Delhi on Tuesday to assess the ongoing investigation into the alleged rape of a 34-year-old woman from Odisha. The senior IPS officer is scheduled to meet with the survivor at AIIMS Delhi, where she is currently receiving treatment, to inquire about her health and well-being.
The nursing graduate from Odisha was reportedly raped and abandoned in the Sarai Kale Khan area of Delhi. She was discovered in a semi-conscious state on October 11 and was subsequently admitted to the AIIMS trauma care center. As of now, the police have yet to apprehend the suspect involved in the crime.
Although the survivor is recovering and her condition is stable, police have not yet been able to record her statement. The situation drew criticism from the opposition BJD, prompting Chief Minister Mohan Majhi to instruct Shyni to coordinate with the Delhi Police for a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victim.
Upon his return to Bhubaneswar from his home district of Keonjhar, the Chief Minister reassured the Delhi Police of the Odisha government’s full support and cooperation in the investigation.
