Odisha News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 17: The mutilated body of a 23-year-old youth, identified as Niranjan Sahu from Raghunath Nagar in Dumduma, was found on the railway tracks near the Sarakantar-Bahadalpur crossing in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. While initial findings suggest suicide, the youth’s family suspects foul play, alleging that his rumored girlfriend and her family are involved in his death.

According to sources, Niranjan’s girlfriend, along with her mother and sister, allegedly barged into his house on Wednesday evening, threatening him over a dispute. The next morning, his body was discovered on the railway tracks with his left hand severed. “They argued at our home about money last night and threatened him. We suspect he was murdered, and his body was dumped on the tracks to stage a suicide,” said Niranjan’s brother.

However, the girlfriend offered a different account, claiming that Niranjan had misused her ATM card while she was in Goa for her hotel management course. “He withdrew about ₹4 lakh from my account and lost it in online gaming. He promised to repay me by December,” she said, adding that she suspects Niranjan may have taken his own life.

The police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of death amidst the conflicting allegations.
