Odisha Police: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 24: The Odisha Police is set to bolster coastal security by implementing new measures, including the formation of an independent board in collaboration with the Indian Coast Guard. This was revealed by Director General of Police (DGP) Y B Khurania following a meeting with ADG Donny Michael, Coast Guard Commander (Eastern Seaboard), in Bhubaneswar. The discussion focused on disaster preparedness and enhancing coastal security.

The newly proposed board will include officers from both the Odisha Police and the Indian Coast Guard. It will conduct detailed surveys and assess the security needs of coastal areas. Retired Coast Guard and Navy personnel will be inducted into the Marine Police to leverage their expertise, ensuring efficient management and surveillance of the coastline.

Key aspects of the plan include increased patrolling in coastal regions, expanded aerial surveillance, and the establishment of a Command and Control setup for swift coordination and response. The board will also identify specific security requirements, and necessary measures will be implemented after reviewing the survey reports.

DGP Khurania emphasized the importance of securing Odisha’s coastline and enhancing coordination between the police and the Coast Guard for improved disaster preparedness and safety.
