Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 11: Odisha’s Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister, Krushna Chandra Patra, announced that over 16 lakh names have been removed from the ration card beneficiaries list in the past eight years due to death or ineligibility.

Responding to a question from Congress MLA Sofia Firdous in the state Assembly, Patra revealed that a total of 16,27,920 names were deleted from the list since the 2016-17 fiscal year.

Patra explained that the removal of names from the database is part of a dynamic process to ensure the accuracy of the ration card system. He noted that the State Government has recently introduced Aadhaar e-KYC for all members listed on a ration card to further enhance the precision of the beneficiary database. This new measure is expected to streamline the inclusion and deletion process, ensuring that only eligible individuals receive benefits.
