Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 25: Odisha is expected to experience persistent heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next few days due to a developing low-pressure area over southern Bangladesh and its surrounding regions. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), this low-pressure system is expected to intensify and move west-northwestward, impacting Gangetic West Bengal, northern Odisha, and Jharkhand over the next two days.
The IMD has forecast significant rainfall, ranging from 7 to 20 cm, in specific districts such as Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak on August 25. Additionally, moderate to heavy showers are anticipated in districts like Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Malkangiri, and Koraput.
Bhubaneswar is likely to experience a partly cloudy sky with chances of moderate rain or thunderstorms.
On August 26, very heavy rainfall is expected to continue in districts like Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda, with other regions including Bargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, and Sambalpur likely to receive heavy rain.
Although no significant weather warnings are issued for August 27, heavy rainfall is expected to return on August 28 in districts such as Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, and Koraput. The downpour is predicted to continue on August 29, affecting Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Balangir districts.
