Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 9: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast indicating that Odisha is expected to experience heavy rainfall through August 15. Yellow warnings have been issued for various locations in North Odisha on August 9, 10, 13, 14, and 15.
August 9: Heavy rainfall of 7 to 11 cm is possible at one or two locations in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, and Deogarh. Additionally, a nowcast warning is in effect for light to moderate rain and thundershowers, accompanied by lightning, in parts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, and Cuttack until 4 pm. Bhubaneswar may also see a cloudy sky with intermittent rain or thundershowers.
August 10: Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Sundargarh and Jharsuguda.
August 13: Heavy rainfall may resume at one or two locations in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh.
August 14: Heavy rainfall could occur at one or two places in various districts of North Odisha.
August 15: Heavy rainfall may persist at one or two locations in North Odisha.
The IMD’s extended outlook from August 9 to 22 suggests that Odisha will experience fairly widespread to scattered rain and thundershowers, with isolated heavy rain expected. Overall, rainfall activity is predicted to be above to near normal during this period.
