Bhubaneswar, (Reporters pen), Sept 11: On Wednesday, Odisha Vigilance officials uncovered significant assets during raids on Prasanna Kumar Swain, Assistant Engineer of the Irrigation Division in Bhanjanagar, Ganjam. The raids, conducted under search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Berhampur, revealed a four-storey palatial building worth Rs 2.4 crore among six multi-storey structures, five high-value plots, and bank deposits totaling Rs 11.5 lakh.
The operation, led by seven Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), five inspectors/ASIs, and other staff, targeted nine locations. The assets found include:
A four-storey building of over 9,000 sq ft worth Rs 2.4 crore in Tulsinagar, Berhampur.
A four-storey residential building of over 6,000 sq ft at Bagdevi Road, Bhejiput, Bhanjanagar.
A triple-storey building of over 3,000 sq ft at Bagdevi Road, Bhejiput, Bhanjanagar.
Another triple-storey building of over 2,500 sq ft in Bhanjanagar.
A double-storey under-construction building of over 5,850 sq ft at Ward No. 6 NAC, Bhanjanagar.
A double-storey paternal house of 1,130 sq ft at Luduludi, Bhanjanagar PS, Ganjam.
Five high-value plots (one in Berhampur and four in and around Bhanjanagar).
Two two-wheelers.
The Vigilance Technical Wing is currently assessing the measurements and valuations of these properties. Searches are ongoing at several locations, including Swain’s office and various residential properties in Bhanjanagar and Berhampur. The investigation continues to uncover details about his assets and financial holdings.
