Odisha Vigilance: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 28: During the Vigilance Awareness Week event, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched a scathing attack on the previous BJD government, accusing it of widespread corruption, especially under the 5T initiative. Majhi stated that the BJP government, which came to power 140 days ago, is committed to a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against corruption. “This is just the trailer; the full film is yet to come,” he remarked, hinting at more stringent actions ahead.
Majhi highlighted several anti-corruption efforts undertaken so far. Six chief engineers have been arrested, and 233 plots, 32 buildings, 6 kg of gold, and bank deposits worth Rs 10 crore have been seized. Additionally, Rs 21 lakh in cash was recovered, and several high-ranking officials have been jailed for corruption.
The Chief Minister also announced the establishment of a Vigilance Forensic Science Institute to further strengthen the fight against corruption. He criticized the previous regime, alleging that corrupt officials operated without fear for 24 years, but under the new government, no protection would be extended to wrongdoers.
He stressed that Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under welfare schemes has curtailed corruption and vowed that all officials involved in irregularities during the BJD rule will face thorough investigation.
