Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), July 26: On Friday, Odisha Vigilance officials continued their investigation into Chief Construction Engineer Sunil Kumar Rout’s alleged disproportionate assets, uncovering additional assets during searches. The latest discoveries include two plots of land in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, near the Vrindaban Chandrodayo Mandir on Chhatikara Road. Details regarding the size and value of these plots are still being verified.
The ongoing probe has revealed that Rout has invested significantly in insurance, with premiums totaling Rs 1.86 crore, and his bank deposits amount to Rs 40.39 lakhs, bringing his total verified deposits to over Rs 2.26 crores. Further investigations into his investments in shares and other financial instruments are underway.
At Rout’s farmhouse in Saptasajya, Dhenkanal, covering approximately 8 acres, officials found a two-story residential building. Additionally, a poultry farm housing about 1,000 chickens and ducks, and a cow shed with 45 cows and 25 calves were discovered. The valuation of these assets is ongoing, with veterinary assistance being sought for accurate assessment.
On Thursday, the Vigilance team had previously uncovered two multi-story buildings in Bhubaneswar, two flats in Puri, and 34 plots during simultaneous searches across nine locations. The raids also yielded 176 grams of gold, Rs 2.3 lakh in cash, two trucks, two unregistered four-wheelers, and four two-wheelers.
