Odisha Vigilance: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 7: The Odisha Vigilance Department made a significant arrest on Saturday, detaining Rebati Raman Joshi, the Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) for the Hirakud Wildlife Division in Sambalpur, on charges of amassing assets that are disproportionate to his known sources of income.

This arrest followed extensive raids conducted on properties associated with Joshi, which revealed a staggering array of assets.

Vigilance officials discovered three buildings, including a triple-story structure in Sambalpur valued at approximately ₹1.80 crore, along with four flats—one located in Bhubaneswar and three in Sambalpur. Additionally, seven plots of land and cash amounting to ₹14.71 lakh were found.

The Vigilance Department stated that Joshi could not provide satisfactory explanations for these significant assets. By Friday evening, investigators had identified a range of properties, including a commercial building in Sambalpur, various flats, and several prime plots in Sambalpur and Bargarh. The officials also seized ₹14.5 lakh in cash, 150 grams of gold jewelry, 300 grams of silver ornaments, and bank and insurance deposits totaling ₹31,31,849, along with a two-wheeler and household items valued at ₹9.13 lakh. The investigation continues as authorities scrutinize Joshi’s financial dealings.
