Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 11: A violent clash during Ganesh idol immersion in Dhurusia village, Khuntuni area, Cuttack district, resulted in one death and three critical injuries. The incident occurred on Tuesday night under the jurisdiction of Khuntuni police station.
The conflict erupted between two groups from Gopal Sahi and Dhurusia villages during the immersion procession. An altercation quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, with both groups using swords and sticks. Amid the chaos, a minor boy was killed, and three others sustained severe injuries.
Upon receiving reports, a police team arrived at the scene and detained two individuals for their involvement in the clash. The injured victims were transported to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where their condition remains critical.
Following the incident, tension has risen in the area. To maintain order and prevent further violence, additional police forces have been deployed to the village.
