PM Modi flags off two new Vande Bharat trains for Odisha

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today virtually inaugurated two Vande Bharat trains for Odisha. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi was present at Berhampur station to witness the launch of the Berhampur-Tata Vande Bharat Express, connecting the silk city of Berhampur to the steel city of Tata.

The train will cover the journey in 9 hours and 5 minutes, with minimal stops along the way.

Praising Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, CM Majhi emphasized India’s rapid infrastructure development and the nation’s strides toward becoming a developed country. He highlighted Berhampur’s importance as a hub for silk sarees and trade.

Majhi noted that the introduction of the Vande Bharat Express will boost tourism and commerce in the region. With three Vande Bharat trains already operating in Odisha, three more were added today.

He also mentioned that the Central government has planned eight additional trains, with a budget allocation of Rs 20,000 crore. Majhi acknowledged PM Modi’s ongoing support for Odisha’s development, including Rs 1 lakh crore for railway infrastructure and over Rs 70,000 crore for various projects aimed at improving the state’s railway network.

Additionally, the Rourkela-Howrah Vande Bharat Express was launched, bringing the total number of Vande Bharat trains in Odisha to five.
