Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), July 27: Special Squad from the Commissionerate Police has arrested three individuals, including Ram Kumar from Uttar Pradesh, associated with the notorious ‘Bawaria’ gang, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh announced on Saturday. The police also seized two gold chains and a stolen motorcycle from Kumar’s possession.
The ‘Bawaria’ gang is known for its chain-snatching operations and other criminal activities. According to DCP Singh, the gang, originating from Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh, typically travels in groups. They steal motorcycles to facilitate their chain-snatching and robbery activities across different states, using trains to move between locations.
In a separate development, Akash Samal from Cuttack Sadar and Sital Behera from Bidanasi were apprehended in connection with a chain-snatching complaint filed at Saheed Nagar police station. Both individuals also face pending burglary charges. DCP Singh revealed that Akash has twelve criminal cases against him, including one under the Arms Act. Two gold chains were also recovered from their possession.
