Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 25: During a recent raid at the district jail in Balangir, Odisha, police discovered a mobile phone in the cell of notorious gangster Sushant Dhal Samanta.

The extensive raid, conducted on Friday after a clash between rival groups in the prison, also led to the confiscation of banned items, including tobacco products and a trimmer. While authorities initially reported the seizure of contraband, a lighter, and the trimmer, it was confirmed on Sunday that a mobile phone was also found in Sushant’s cell.

Police stated that Sushant is currently in Cuttack for eye treatment. The discovery of the mobile phone has raised suspicions about whether Sushant was operating his crime network from within the jail. The fact that the phone was found in his cell while he was not present in the jail has caused significant concern.

Sushant was transferred to Balangir jail in March 2018 from Bhubaneswar’s Jharpada jail after police uncovered his plan to orchestrate a murder in Cuttack.
