Political News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 14: In a significant development for the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), veteran leader and former Odisha Minister Amar Satpathy announced on Monday that he is no longer associated with the Naveen Patnaik-led party.

This statement follows his recent criticism of Patnaik regarding the party’s poor performance in the last elections. Satpathy revealed to the media that he did not renew his membership during the recent drive organized by the BJD.
“I am no longer part of the BJD. I did not take membership during the recent drive. I felt suffocated within the organization due to the prevailing atmosphere,” Satpathy expressed.

He clarified that he is not engaged in any political activities at the moment, although he acknowledged that several parties, including the BJP, have reached out to him. “I am keeping myself away from political activities for now and have yet to decide my future course of action,” he added.

In response to Satpathy’s remarks, BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty suggested it would be best for him to leave the party if he no longer wishes to be a member. “If he does not want to remain in BJD, it will be better to leave,” Mohanty stated.
