Political news: BJD to hold organizational elections in January

Political news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 16: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), the main opposition party in Odisha, is set to conduct its organizational elections in January next year.

Senior BJD leader Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak announced the upcoming polls in Bhubaneswar on Monday, stating that the decision follows instructions from party president Naveen Patnaik.

Nayak, who also serves as the convenor of the BJD’s membership drive committee, emphasized that the ongoing efforts to induct new members into the party are progressing successfully. He noted that the membership drive has garnered a positive response, with the party aiming to achieve its membership target by December 21.

Following the completion of the membership drive, reports from across the state will be collected and scrutinized by the party’s coordination committee chairperson, Debi Prasad Mishra. After thorough verification, Mishra will submit the final report to the party president, leading to the release of the official list of new members.

Nayak mentioned that one active member will be selected from every 24 primary members. The membership drive will continue even after the organizational elections, with many ward committees already established across various regions.
