political news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 19: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has announced plans to stage a demonstration in Bhubaneswar on January 6 to protest the rising prices of essential commodities and other pressing issues, as part of its strategy to intensify its criticism of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government.

In an open letter to party workers and leaders in advance of the BJD’s 28th foundation day, party president Naveen Patnaik urged them to voice their concerns about the BJP government’s failure to control inflation, which he stated has severely impacted the poor and middle-class citizens. Patnaik emphasized that foundation day celebrations will take place across all assembly constituencies in the state.

Highlighting BJD’s commitment to serving the people of Odisha over the past 27 years, the former Chief Minister noted that despite the BJP being in power, the regional party has consistently received more votes from the public.

Senior BJD leader and former minister Debi Prasad Mishra provided additional details about the planned protest, stating that it will focus on the rising prices of essential goods and the overall inflation crisis. He criticized the BJP’s “double-engine government” slogan, labeling it a “double failure” at both the state and national levels.
