Political News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 21: Ollywood actor Buddhaditya Mohanty publicly apologized on Monday for his controversial social media post regarding senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. In a video message, he described the post as a “human error” and expressed regret to the Congress party. “I realized that the post, which was based on rumors circulating on social media, was a mistake, and I have deleted it. I had previously apologized on Facebook,” he stated.

The controversy began on October 18 when Udit Pradhan, the president of the state’s National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), lodged a complaint at the Capital police station, demanding action against Mohanty.

In his original Facebook post, the actor implied that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s next target, after the killing of Baba Siddique, should be Rahul Gandhi. He drew a parallel to notorious agencies, stating, “Germany had the Gestapo… Israel has the Mossad… USA has the CIA… now India has Lawrence Bishnoi… next in the list should be Owaisi and Rahul Gandhi.”

Following public backlash, Mohanty issued another apology on the same day, clarifying that his intent was never to harm or demean Gandhi. He expressed regret for any sentiments he may have unintentionally affected, asserting that he did not wish to target or write anything against the Congress leader.

Siddique, a former Congress leader turned NCP member, was shot dead in Mumbai on October 12, further intensifying the sensitivity surrounding the issue.
