political news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 20: A delegation of BJP MPs from Odisha, led by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, recently met with Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu to discuss the development of airport infrastructure in the state.

In a memorandum submitted to Naidu, the MPs highlighted the need for a new terminal building at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar to accommodate the increasing air traffic and passenger demand. They also advocated for the second phase of development at Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda, the establishment of a new airport in Puri, and the transformation of Charbatia airstrip in Cuttack into a fully operational airport. The memorandum emphasized that enhancing the Jharsuguda airport and constructing a new terminal at BPIA would significantly contribute to the industrial development of eastern India.

Additionally, the delegation urged for the expansion of airstrips in Jeypore and Rourkela, as well as the development of the Tusura airstrip in Balangir district. They also requested Naidu to include several locations, such as Birasal in Dhenkanal and Hirakud in Sambalpur, under the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme to improve regional air connectivity and meet the aspirations of Odisha’s residents.
