Bhubaneswar, (Reporters Pen): Sept 4: On Wednesday, the Bhadrak district administration in Odisha imposed prohibitory orders near Motta Plus-III College in Chandbali following concerns about potential clashes between BJP and BJD supporters.

The orders, issued under Section 163 of the BNSS, restrict rallies, unlawful gatherings, and processions within a 1-km radius of the college, covering areas such as Kheranga Bazar, Nalgunda Bazar, Digachhia Market, Paramanandapur Chhak, and Matto Market.

This action is intended to maintain law and order during the college’s foundation day celebrations. Tensions have arisen as BJP state president Manmohan Samal and MP Abimanyu Sethi are scheduled to attend the event, while the local BJD MLA was not invited.

In response, BJD workers blocked the Bhadrak-Chandbali road near Ugratara, protesting the exclusion of Chandbali MLA Byomakesh Roy from the college function.

Bhadrak Sub-Collector Manoja Patra enacted the prohibitory orders, which are in effect from 7 AM Wednesday to 7 AM Thursday, to ensure public safety.
