Puri Temple: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 3: Cracks have appeared on the Meghanada Pacheri, the ancient boundary wall surrounding the Puri Jagannath Temple, raising concerns about the preservation of this 12th-century heritage site. Reports indicate that wastewater from the temple’s Ananda Bazaar is seeping through the damaged sections of the wall, which has also developed algae patches.
According to a temple servitor, water leakage from the Meghanada Pacheri has been an ongoing issue since 2021, but repair work has yet to begin. Both servitors and devotees are increasingly worried about the structural integrity of the temple boundary and are urging immediate repairs.
Addressing the concerns, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee stated, “We share the concern regarding the Meghanada Pacheri’s condition. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and technical teams have examined the site, and necessary restoration work is scheduled to begin shortly.”
