Ravenshaw University: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 28: A violent clash broke out between two groups of students during a cricket match at Ravenshaw University in Cuttack on Thursday, leaving several students injured. The injured students were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
According to sources, the incident took place in the evening during a friendly cricket match between boarders of two boys’ hostels on the university campus. The situation escalated when an argument erupted over an umpiring decision. The dispute quickly turned into a heated altercation, leading to physical violence between the two groups. Within minutes, the scuffle intensified, resulting in injuries to multiple students from both sides.
Upon receiving information, officials from Malgodown police station, along with senior university authorities, reached the spot and took control of the situation. The injured students were immediately transported to the hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the incident and have intensified patrolling in the area to prevent further clashes. Authorities are also in discussions with university officials to ensure such incidents do not recur, emphasizing the importance of discipline and peaceful conflict resolution among students.
