Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), July 16: In another life-saving operation at Cuttack’s SCB Medical College and Hospital, two individuals receive new lease on life through cadaveric kidney transplants. The deceased donor’s generous organ donation has enabled this significant medical intervention.

Following the declaration of brain death, the kidneys of Virendra Prasad Swain from Raghunathpur, Jagatsinghpur, were procured and swiftly allocated. One kidney was transplanted locally at SCB Medical Center’s Urology and Nephrology Department, while the other was transported via a Green Corridor to AIIMS Bhubaneswar. A successful kidney transplant took place late last night, benefiting a woman from the Jajpur region.

Today, Virendra will be honored with a guard of honor during his final rites in his hometown. Further details are awaited on this development.

SCB Medical College and Hospital had previously made medical history in March 2023 with another successful dual kidney transplant from a deceased donor, highlighting advancements in the field of medical science.
