Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), July 24: A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for inventorying the valuables of the Ratna Bhandar at Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, has been finalized and will commence after the completion of repairs to the treasury structure. This update was provided by Justice (Retd) Biswanath Rath, former Orissa High Court Judge and chairman of the 16-member supervising committee appointed by the Odisha government.
Justice Rath confirmed that the SOP for the inventory process is in place. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will carry out the inspection and repair of both the outer and inner chambers of the Ratna Bhandar. Once the repairs are complete, the ASI will issue a certificate, allowing the inventory of valuables to proceed.
The repairs are being undertaken with the aim of ensuring the structure remains in good condition for the next 100 years.
It is noteworthy that the Ratna Bhandar was accessed on July 14 and 18, and all ornaments and valuables from both chambers were moved to a temporary strongroom within the temple complex.
