Subhadra Yojana inaugurated by PM Modi, first installment distributed to 25 lakh women

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched the Odisha government’s ambitious Subhadra Yojana, fulfilling a key promise made by the BJP during the 2024 elections. The scheme was inaugurated at a special event held at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar.

The launch event was attended by Odisha Governor Raghubar Das, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers K.V. Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram, along with other MPs and Ministers.

More than 70,000 women attended the launch ceremony, eagerly awaiting their first installment of Rs 5,000. According to Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, over 74 lakh women have registered for the Subhadra Yojana.

With the scheme’s inauguration, 25 lakh women will receive Rs 5,000 in their bank accounts today, and over one crore women across the state will benefit from the Subhadra Yojana. Those who registered by September 15 will receive their first installment shortly after the launch.

The scheme provides Rs 10,000 annually in two installments, which will be credited to beneficiaries’ accounts on Raksha Bandhan and International Women’s Day (March 8). Over five years, each beneficiary will receive a total of Rs 50,000 under the Subhadra Yojana, designed to empower women and enhance their self-sufficiency.
