In this attack, a CRPF officer was shot and later succumbed to his injuries.

The officer stated that around 3:30 PM, the terrorists opened fire on a CRPF Special Operations Group (SOG) and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Dudu area of Basantgarh. He mentioned that an inspector from the 187th Battalion of CRPF was shot, and he passed away while being taken to the hospital. The recent terrorist attack in the Jammu region, which has been relatively peaceful compared to Kashmir for many years, has sparked concern. However, in the past few months, there has been an increase in terrorist attacks and activities, especially in the southern parts of the Pir Panjal region of Jammu. The dense forests and mountains in the Pir Panjal area are believed to provide shelter for terrorists.
